Based in Rosyth near Edinburgh, producer Craig Penman is now working under the Jubilee Club guise and his new four-track EP, Ghost In The Polaroids; pits Korg pads against percussive echoes, funky oscillation against dirty breakdowns. Building over 4×4 kicks and arpegiatted synth parts to become proper bangers, Penman spits aggressive spoken-word, his music more nuanced despite drawing influence from genre titans such as Four Tet and Pional.

With an undercurrent of menace that barely disguises itself, this is electro fight music that also flashes back to Unkle’s landmark Psyence Fiction as often as it does Nils Frahm’s zen scales and throbbing techno ambience.
